Election of vice chair: Done in the Spring, Marie Seager elected vice chair 2021-2022
Meeting schedule:
- Meetings will be held the 3rd Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Schedule for year to be updated on school website. The schedule will be as followed for the 2021-2022 school year

- December (Winter break) and May (End of school year) may be cancelled, and items covered the previous months.
- Meetings in person are preferred, discussion in person work better. A zoom link will be sent out so any parent/member can jump in.
Academic Items/Goals: Strong motivation for improvement
Data Dashboard –
- Math Inventory (MI) I and the AI get ice cream and socks next week, winter/spring for growth. Winter rewards will be the week of the 20th.
- Math data is 1% higher
- Reading Inventory (RI) room for improvement. Data still being collected by district and will be available to school in October
- Goal – 48% improvement
Early Warning Systems:
Not a lot of assignments
Attendance is off (sickness/Covid)
High amount of Ds and Fs
Action items:
Reinstating after-school programs: To help with helping kids get motivated for doing work and play.
- Activities will be addressed. Possibly hockey, art, football, etc. one hour after school.
- Things will be done by 3:30 and snacks and activities will be available.
- If there is interest/budget to have this work longer, it could be longer than 3:30.
- Peer tutors aren’t in the program, but the teachers will run this.
- Ability to retake assessments is helping with improving scores.
TSI Categories:
Newcomers not speaking/understanding English can work the first year with the pass/fail grades affecting the scores on TSI. Fitting well in Sr. Agulara’s class.
LAND Trust and TSSA
- Land Trust: $125,090
- TSSA: $161,632 (There was a glitch where the Mac Lab wasn’t delivered as expected.)
- Cell Tower Funds: Budget is on hold for debate on how funds will be dispersed.
- Motion to vote to use the funds for these things. Principle Watts will let us know that number from last year once audit is complete
- Val (chair) moved that the cell tower funds for the four points found on power point presentation. James seconded.
- Additional Funds: PTA
- Struggling to find members. Cassie to look into ways to get more involvement.
Social Emotional Learning Program – Second Step
- Marie Seager and Cassie Smith are interested in being SCC parent representatives. This is a program by Canyons School District to encourage mental health in the schools and community.
School Safety
- 6th Grade: Focusing on “Executive Functions” Counselors are meeting with students to understand what it means to be on track.
- 7th Grade: Focusing on College Prep.
- All Grades: Suicide Prevention program. Social Emotional Staff on board.
- District is funding social/emotional employees now.
School Connectedness and Re-engaging program:
Program is aimed at engaging families/students that have not been engaged with school for some time.
- Leah Batchcoff an initial point of contact for families/students.
- Once contact is made, student/family is then assigned to another staff member for further assistance.
- Leah making GREAT progress and reaching 75% of families!
- There is a pantry and clothing closets to help any students in need.
Behavior Concerns:
- Vandalism in bathrooms (Tik Tok Trend?)
- Yelling more than usual, people on edge.
- Political and polarized views are high and possibly getting in the way of academics.
Teacher Report:
Reading math inventory have been taken. Midterms are today, so this will help see where the students are.
Upcoming events:
Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week.
Mountaineer Time will be back on Fridays for 30 min or more.
This Friday is the first second step lesson.
