March 9, 2023 – Minutes
Welcome & call meeting to order/roll call
Voting Members- James Barron (Chair), Harmony Jones (Vice-Chair), Cassie Smith, Marie Seager (Absent), Ryan Durant (Principal), Nicole Jaynes (Counselor)
2. February meeting minutes review and approval Motion R. Durant, second H. Jones, approved unanimously- including text from Marie Seager.
3. Business items:
- New members & verify on-line roster. Vice Chair position vacant discussion on filling position- Nomination H. Jones by R. Durant, Second C. Smith, approved unanimously.
Timeline
- April 5th meeting falls in spring break, meeting planned for April 12th but needs to be adjusted. Motion to move to April 13th by H. jones, second C. Smith, approved unanimously. R. Durant was able to confirm date will work with the TSSP, and Land Trust deadlines in April.
Next year Draft TSSP goals presented and Land trust items identified continued.
- Review of budgets from last year, many items are relevant and effective and therefor there are many items that will remain unchanged from the previous year. R. Durant discussed change areas for the upcoming budget.
RI modifications:
- Moving to a growth goal from a hard percentage
- Reduced budget for half pay student support intervention mentor to actual cost from previous year
- AVID Summer Institute registration, may reduce from current year.
- Additional buyout of teacher preparation period to open additional opportunities for additional students to take reading intervention.
MI modifications:
- Moving to a growth goal from a hard percentage
- Reduced budget for half pay student support intervention mentor to actual cost from previous year
- Additional funding for curriculum/technology materials – facility has determined a benefit to students having math work books and not just digital support.
Safety and wellbeing:
- Goal changed to focus to an emotional and well-being goal and measured by grade from 90% identifying they feel safe and have at least one adult they trust in the building.
- No budget modifications from past year
- Positive behavior plan – not reviewed this meeting but will be added to April Agenda.

- Social Skill Lessons (Elementary & Middle Schools)
- Supplemental Lessons lead by School SEL staffo
- Botvin Lifeskills (Substance Abuse Prevention taught in 7th Grade Health Classes)
- Digital Citizenship Lessons
- Small Groups lead by SEL staff (Anxiety, Friendship, Social Skills)
- Restorative Practice Implementation
- Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (Mountaineer Market, activities)
- Providing Ongoing Parent resources through weekly parent emails and Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Second Step Social Skill Lessons
- Teacher Advisory built into the schedule to work on relationships

4. Data review- TSSP/Land Trust
- AVID Summer Institute registration to include 8 staff, and possibly a 9th if budget allows.
- Reduced from current year.
- Positive feedback on moving toward growth goals
- Facility requests and support to adding RI to two days
5. Budgets - On track, large expenses are pending soon. One time costs such as registrations, and subs and not monthly expenses such as salaries and benefits.
6. School Safety
- Fire drill in February
- March has nothing planned
- April is Great Utah Shake Out on April 20th
7. Counselor’s Report
- Finished up registration, small percent of students remain
- Finished 6th grade character lessons- data still to be reviewed
- 8th grade virtual college tours happening
- 8th grade career day is April 13th
8. Faculty Report / Principal’s Report
- PTC went well, with better/more involvement than anticipated. Feed back for 1 day in-person and 1 day virtual was positive
- Lowered student enrollment and FTE reduced for next year
- Part time FCS teacher next year
- Reduced to 5 math teachers
