HOUR OF CODE: We will be participating in the Hour of Code on Monday, December 14. We will hold this during the last hour of the day. Students will participate in activities related to coding during this time. We will be on a modified bell schedule on Monday. You can access the bell schedule here.
What is the Hour of Code? The purpose of the Hour of Code is to introduce students WORLD WIDE to computer science. During this hour students will not become coding experts, but will learn that anyone can learn the basics. The Hour of Code isn’t just putting the students in front of a computer and having them code. It’s also about bringing awareness to Computer Science and the many possibilities and opportunities that are out there for EVERYONE. “Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.” – Code.org
CHESS CLUB: Chess club is held on Tuesdays from 2:30 – 3:30 pm in Ms. O’Reilly’s room. Come learn more about Chess and improve your skills for a chance to compete in the district Chess tournament. Please contact Ms. O’Reilly with any questions.
MATH COUNTS: Math Counts math club is held on Thursdays from 2:30 – 3:00 pm in Ms. O’Reilly’s room. Come improve your math skills as you prepare for the Math Counts competition. Please contact Ms. O’Reilly with any questions.
GIVING FOR GOOD: Monday is the last day for our Giving for good! Thank you for your support! We are just over two-thirds to our goal on SuccessFund and we thank you for that! Please keep those food donations coming in! The food will be donated to the local food bank and any monetary donations will be used to provide a “Sub for Santa” for families in need within our community. Our food wall is growing as pictured below. Our goal is to raise $3000 to help families in need and donate 500 lbs of food to the Utah Food Bank. Monetary donations can be made through a shareable SuccessFund link at https://www.successfund.com/mjmsavidservice
INTERNET ESSENTIALS: If you don’t have reliable internet access at home and are having trouble accessing Canvas on the student Chromebooks please contact Crystal Connors at Mt. Jordan (801) 826-7412. We have access to a number of vouchers to bring broadband internet access to your home at no cost if you have not had comcast in the last 90 days.
Thank you for continuing to encourage your students to bring their charged Chromebooks to school each day and wearing their PBIS badge.

HORA DEL CÓDIGO: Participaremos en la Hora del Código el lunes 14 de diciembre. Lo llevaremos a cabo durante la última hora del día.
