Roll Call and Welcome
Approve Minutes from February Meeting
Ms. Christensen made a motion to approve the minutes. Ms. Edtl seconded the motion. The motion passes unanimously.
Business Items
Budget Review
Budgets are in a good place. Mr. Durant provided documents that show the money allocated to the various accounts.
2025-2026 TSSP & Land Trust Plan Final Approval
Mr. Durant showed a graph of the MAP achievement and growth levels of Mount Jordan’s students. This will be the tool our school will use to measure progress toward reaching our goals. Mr. Durant explained what the test measures and how our teachers use that information to inform our instruction.
Mr. Durant walked the council through the goals and the rationale that was used to write them.
In the action items, Mount Jordan’s FTE from the district was increased so our budget reflects the money that was previously used to pay for additional staff now being able to go towards other action items.
Ms. Christensen made a motion to approve the final Land Trust and TSSP plan for 2025-2026. Ms. Edtl made the second. The council voted unanimously.
School Safety Report
Mr. Seltz said the next drill is an earthquake drill in April.
Counselor’s Report
Ms. Wickham said the counselors finished their guidance lessons for the year. Now they are collecting the course registration cards for next year.
Faculty Report
Many faculty members have asked for an update to changes in the student cell phone plan. The council discussed the bill that passed in the legislature and how Canyons is planning on implementing new policy to be in compliance.
Personal Technology Survey Results
Survey results suggest that parents are overwhelmingly in favor of having cell phones banned at school. Another trend that emerged was parents wanting their children to have access to the school phone to call them if there was an issue.
Some parents were concerned about being able to come to the school if their child’s phone was confiscated – their work schedules make this very difficult.
Meeting Adjourn
Mrs. Christensen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Payne made a second. The motion passed unanimously.
